Now in its third edition (1996), The World At War is an expansion set for Axis & Allies, which adds both flavor and more realism to the game, while further expanding on it by starting in 1939, with only Germany at war with Poland, France and the UK.There is a replacement map, which greatly increases the number of areas. There are new unit types, such as cruisers, Paratroopers, SS Panzers and SS Panzergrenadiers, Russian Guards, Partisans.
